London isn’t just the land of royals, rain, and red buses. It’s a vibrant, quirky city with endless layers to uncover — it’s always a YES and perfect for a girlfriends’ getaway. (if you’re going to bus tour, the ultimate ladies trip tour would be Brigit’s Bakery Tea + Bus tour).

Whether you want to sip champagne overlooking the Thames, get your adrenaline pumping, or uncover hidden gems locals love, this 7-day London itinerary has you covered. So grab your besties, your walking shoes, and let’s do this thing!

For more unusual adventures with a local twist: This itinerary is part of a girlfriend getaway trip that is coming soon.

Arrival and Soaking in the Local Vibes – Day 1

Morning: Land at Heathrow or Gatwick, take the Tube and drop your bags at a stylish boutique hotel (Henrietta Hotel in Covent Garden is a great choice), and start your day with a strong cup of coffee at Monmouth Coffee. This charming spot is where locals fuel up for the day.

Afternoon: Shake off the jet lag with a leisurely stroll through Little Venice. This picturesque canal area is lined with colorful houseboats and quaint cafes. For a local favorite, take a canal boat ride to Camden Market — a bustling hub of vintage shops, street food, and quirky treasures.

Evening: Kick off your London adventure with a riverfront dinner at Sea Containers Restaurant. Overlooking the Thames, this chic spot serves up fabulous food and a stunning view. Follow it up with a nighttime walk along the Southbank, where you can enjoy street performers, pop-up bars, and the city’s iconic skyline illuminated against the river.

East London’s Edgy Adventures – Day 2

Morning: Start your day with a visit to Broadway Market in Hackney. This vibrant street is packed with independent shops, artisan food stalls, and a buzzing Saturday market where you can sample everything from vegan pastries to handmade trinkets.

Afternoon: Escape the crowds with a peaceful walk along the Regent’s Canal to Victoria Park. Known as “the People’s Park,” it’s a local favorite for a picnic or a serene boat ride on the park’s small lake. Stop by a nearby café like The Pavilion for a light lunch.

Evening: For a truly unique experience, head to God’s Own Junkyard, a kaleidoscopic neon paradise tucked away in Walthamstow. Sip on cocktails surrounded by dazzling vintage signs and enjoy the vibrant, artistic atmosphere.

Exploring Central London’s Classics – Day 3

Morning: Start your day with the iconic sights. Visit Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard or schedule a tour, then stroll over to Westminster Abbey, Parliament, and Big Ben. These historic landmarks are must-sees for any 7-day London itinerary.

Buckingham Palace ornate room full of columns, velvet chairs, beautiful light fixtures and art, great girls trip stop.

Afternoon: Love to shop? Head to Harrods in Knightsbridge, one of the world’s largest and most famous department stores. Alternatively, if you’re a history buff, immerse yourself in the past at the Churchill War Rooms. This underground museum’s self-guided audio tour offers an incredible glimpse into World War II history. Or my personal favorite, The British Museum, the largest collection of artifacts in the world.

Evening: Wrap up your day with dinner at Gymkhana in Mayfair, a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant that’s beloved by foodies and locals alike. Don’t miss the tandoori dishes and perfectly spiced curries!

Grab breakfast at the Farm Girl, the ultimate girl food location. While you’re there check out the bookstore from the movie Notting Hill. Or pop by Ed Sheeran’s bar, Bertie Blossoms, for a chance to rest your feet or buy some merch (they plant a tree for every purchase made).

Afternoon: Spend a few hours exploring Richmond Park. Rent bikes or simply roam around spotting wild deer. Not feeling that, stretch your legs walking Mayfair, Covent Garden or Soho – these areas are full of shops and cute streets. For lunch, locals swear by Petersham Nurseries Cafe — think dreamy garden vibes with a side of fresh, seasonal food and owner of the Michelin Green Star. They also host a variety of interesting seasonal workshops.

Evening: Dress up for a visit to Sky Garden, a rooftop oasis offering breathtaking views of London. Sip champagne and watch the city lights sparkle. Get tickets to London’s Broadway and enjoy a show on the West End.

South London Surprises – Day 5

Morning: Discover the tranquil Chelsea Physic Garden, one of London’s oldest botanical gardens. This secret gem feels miles away from the hustle and bustle.

Afternoon: Take a short train ride to Greenwich. Stand on the Prime Meridian line, then explore the Greenwich Market for handcrafted goods and global street food. Wrap up with a riverside walk or a quick climb up to The Royal Observatory for stunning views.

Evening: Enjoy dinner at The Cutty Sark, a riverside pub serving hearty British dishes. End the day with a late-night ride on the Emirates Air Line Cable Car for a bird’s-eye view of the city.

Hidden History and Cultural Quirks – Day 6

Morning: Visit the Sir John Soane’s Museum, a fascinating labyrinth of art, architecture, and curiosities. It’s free, and its eccentric charm is pure London.

Afternoon: Head to Borough Market, a foodie paradise where you can graze your way through artisan cheeses, fresh oysters, and global delicacies. Walk it off along the South Bank, soaking in street performers and riverside views. Or explore one of London’s most iconic landmarks, the Tower Bridge, the high-level, glass walkways offer a different view of London life.

Evening: Take in a Shakespeare performance at The Globe. If standing in the yard isn’t your thing, opt for a cozy seat in the upper tiers. Either way, it’s a magical way to immerse yourself in London’s cultural history.

Tips to Make the Most of Your Girlfriends’ Getaway

Pack Smart: Bring versatile outfits that can transition from day to night. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, but pack one pair of fabulous heels for an upscale evening. Don’t forget an umbrella — London’s weather is as unpredictable as a plot twist in a mystery novel.

Use Public Transport: An Oyster Card is your best friend for zipping around the city on buses, the Tube, and even riverboats. It’s cost-effective and gives you a chance to experience London like a local.

Pack Light – Leave Room for Shopping: Whether it’s vintage finds from Shoreditch or bespoke treasures from Covent Garden, London’s shopping scene is irresistible. Leave a little extra space in your suitcase for those unexpected gems.

Stay Flexible: While this 7-day London itinerary is packed, leave some time to explore spontaneously. Stumbling upon a hidden café or quirky bookshop can be the highlight of your trip.Thames River view of house boats docked under green trees - a beautiful location to add to any 7 day London itinerary
